Before you pay

A 996 can be a bargain or a bill. A few habits keep it the first one.

01

Get an independent inspection

Pay a 996 specialist for a pre-purchase inspection, with a borescope for bore scoring. It's the cheapest money you'll spend.

02

Ask for IMS proof

An upgrade should come with an invoice. The model year alone doesn't tell you which bearing the car has.

03

Check the VIN yourself

Run it through a history report and match it to the car in person: dash plate, door jamb and paperwork.

04

Never wire or gift-card

Meet in person, or use an escrow service. A seller who "can't meet" and pushes you to pay first is a scam.
